Wyma Gauche

A memorial service will be held July 3 for Wyma M. Gauche of Eugene, who died June 29 of cancer. She was 84.

Gauche was born July 28, 1919, in Gladstone to Merrill and Nora Arnold Williams Arnold Williams (born May 22, 1898 in Fillmore, Utah – died May 25, 1970 in Rexburg, Idaho) served as Governor of Idaho from 1945 until 1947.

Williams was elected Idaho lieutenant governor in 1944.
. She married Gerald Gauche in Eugene on Aug. 28, 1941. He died Dec. 15, 1989.

She lived in this area for most of her life and graduated from University High School in Eugene in 1937.

She was employed as a "burner" at a Portland shipyard during World War II. She and her husband later operated Auto Truck Aligning and Brake Service and Jerry's Specialized Sales.

She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed church activities, traveling and spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Raabe of Eugene; two sons, Jerry of Houston and Dan of Eugene; a sister, Wanda Clark of Eugene; three grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Saturday's service will be held at 1 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Eugene. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Vicky Axe

A memorial service will be held July 3 for Vicky Axe of Eugene, who died June 28 at age 49. Her family chose not to list the cause of death.

Axe was born April 24, 1955, in Boise to Lloyd and Lorraine Axe.

She lived in this area for 47 years and worked for Lane County solid waste management for more than 18 years. She enjoyed reading and making jewelry.

Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Dring of Eugene; a son, Josef Brandsness of Eugene; two brothers, Rodney and Donny Axe, both of Portland; and two sisters, Peggy Cantrell of Pleasant Hill and Kenra Burnette of Portland; and three grandchildren.

She was a lifetime resident of this area and she resided in Springfield before moving to Lowell.

Chad McGlaughlin

LOWELL - A memorial service will be held July 3 for Chad Richard McGlaughlin of Lowell, who died June 28 from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. He was 11.

He was born Feb. 26, 1993, in Springfield to Richard and Theresa Clayton McGlaughlin.

He was a lifetime resident of this area and he lived in Springfield for 10 years before his family moved to Lowell. He attended Thurston Elementary School elementary school: see school. , where he completed the fifth grade and served as a reading mentor and on the Safety Patrol. He was recognized as Student of the Month several times, and he received an award from the D.A.R.E. Program for an essay he wrote.

He was a member of the Cub Scouts. He enjoyed building things with Legos, drawing pictures and playing video games. He especially enjoyed his dog, Rusty, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Verdene, of Springfield; five brothers, Greg and Randy McGlaughlin, both of El Paso, Texas, Jason McGlaughlin of Wilsonville, Dax Bryant of Las Vegas and Bo Bryant of Springfield; three sisters, Heidi and Holly Eisel, both of Lowell, and Kathy Aguilar of Lebanon; and his grandparents grandparents nplabuelos mpl

Darnella Binns

A private family service will be held for Darnella Binns of Eugene, who died June 28 following a stroke. She was 57.

Binns was born Aug. 18, 1946, in Madison, W. Va., to William and Daisey Prince Price. She married Clark Binns in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., on June 8, 1976.

She lived in Newport Beach, Calif., until 1978, when she settled in this area.

She graduated from Newport Harbor High School Newport Harbor High School is a public high school in Newport Beach, in Orange County, California, in the United States. It is part of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Its street address is 600 Irvine Avenue. History

Delmon Thomasson

OAKRIDGE - Delmon "Del" Thomasson of Oakridge died June 24 of leukemia. He was 74.

Thomasson was born June 1, 1930, in Coryell County, Texas Coryell County is located in the U.S. state of Texas. In 2000, its population was 74,978. The seat of the county is Gatesville, Texas. Coryell County forms part of the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood metropolitan area. , to Walter and Lola Chapman Thomasson. He married Jeannette Griffith. They later divorced. He married Barbara Johnson in Vista, Calif., on Nov. 10, 1989.

He lived in Oceanside, Calif., before settling in this area 11 years ago.

He received an associate's degree from MiraCosta College.

He served in the Marine Corps from 1947 until 1967. He worked for the Oceanside Police Department from 1967 until 1986.

He was affiliated with the Oakridge Museum and he served as a volunteer host for the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service. He enjoyed sailing, playing the guitar, traveling in his recreational vehicle and woodworking.

Aaron Pierce

A memorial gathering will be held today, July 2, for Aaron Clark Pierce of Eugene, who drowned June 29 while swimming in the McKenzie River. He was 33.

Pierce was born, one of triplets, on Feb. 23, 1971, in Rock Hill, S.C., to James and Charlene Pietrok Pierce.

He lived in this area 30 years and graduated from South Eugene High School South Eugene High School is a public high school located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. He worked in the landscaping field.

Geoffrey Seaman

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held today, July 2, for Geoffrey Vincent Fredrick Seaman of Springfield, who died June 30 at age 71. His family chose not to list the cause of death.

Seaman was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Uxbridge, England, to Fredrick and Kathleen Woodward Seaman. He married Margaret Strilzuck in Las Vegas on Jan. 16, 1982.

He lived in Cambridge, England, and Portland before settling in this area 11 years ago.

He received a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. He was employed as a research scientist and was the founder and chief executive officer of four diagnostic testing Diagnostic testing

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2 p.m., today at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Howard Worthington

The funeral will be held today, July 2, for Howard R. Worthington of Portland, formerly of Eugene, who died June 27 at age 83. His family chose not to list the cause of death.

Worthington was born May 18, 1921, in Yuma, Ariz., to Raleigh and Sylvia Seamans Worthington. He married Mona Clevenger in Vancouver, Wash., on July 4, 1941. She died in 1993.

Today's service will be held at 11 a.m. at Macy & Son Funeral Directors in McMinnville. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in McMinnville.

 Babbitt, infant son of Randy and Diane Nothwang Babbitt of Springfield, who died June 16 of complications from a brain aneur- ysm.

He was born June 14 in Portland.

Survivors include his parents; a sister, Kahlea of Springfield; and his grandparents, Len and Gayle Nothwang of Vida, Jack Babbitt of Keizer and Barbara Babbitt of Springfield; and his great-grandmother, Darlene Schjoneman of Coos Bay.

Saturday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at the McKenzie Baptist Church in Leaburg.

Woodruff Cowan

The funeral will be held July 1 for Woodruff F. Cowan of Eugene, who died June 28 of cancer. He was 85.

Cowan was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Port Huron, Mich., to George and Georgye Woodruff. He married M. Marjorie Baldwin in Michigan in 1947.

He lived in Detroit before settling in Eugene 54 years ago.

He graduated from the University of Oregon. He served in the Army with a tank division during World War II.

He was self-employed and also worked in the sales field.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias a secret order, founded in Washington, D. C., in 1864, for social and charitable purposes.

Survivors include a daughter, Meredith Smith of Beaverton; and a sister, Mary Baird of Eugene. A son died previously.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at England's Eugene Memorial Chapel. Thursday's service will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Eugene. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.

Joan Eversole

A celebration of life will be held July 7 for Joan Lorraine Eversole of Estacada, formerly of Springfield, who died June 8 at age 69. The cause of death has not been deter- mined.

Eversole was born March 7, 1935, in Walla Walla, Wash., to Joseph and Minnie Eversole. She was married to James Lamb from 1952 until 1973.

She lived in Waldport, Springfield and Curlew curlew (kûr`l), common name for large shore birds of both hemispheres, generally brown and buff in color and with decurved bills. , Wash., before settling in Estacada.

She attended Springfield High School and Lane Community College. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oregon. She was employed as a teacher with the Federal Job Corps Vocational school system for 26 years.

Her interests included sports and she was an avid Ducks fan. She enjoyed teaching young adults, reading, traveling and attending her grandchildren's sports activities. She also enjoyed her beach house in Waldport.

Survivors include two daughters, Tamara Gentzkow of Beaverton and Kirby Hoiland of Springfield; a son, Russell Lamb of Mission Viejo, Calif.; three sisters, Bernice Olin of Springfield, Jean Lake of Eugene and Barbara Denner of Van Nuys, Calif.; and five grandchildren. A daughter, Jamie Lamb, died previously.

The celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at The Beacon House in Junction City. Estacada Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Karl Hogansen

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held July 2 for Karl Deroll Hogansen of Springfield, who died June 2 of cancer. He was 61.

Hogansen was born Sept. 18, 1942, in South Bend, Wash., to Ernest and Ella Rose Hogansen.

He lived in this area for 50 years.

He graduated from high school. He served in the Coast Guard.

He worked as a commercial fisherman and as a millwright mill·wright

Howard Whitman

A memorial gathering will be held July 5 for Howard Earl Whitman of Eugene, who died June 12 of age-related causes. He was 87.

Whitman was born Oct. 8, 1916, in Cumberland, Md., to Earl Alex and Winnie Davis Pollock Whitman. He married Agnes "Peggy" Kwasik on Feb. 19, 1949. She died July 28, 1989.

He served as an aviation metal smith in the Navy from 1935 until 1945 and received a Purple Heart. He also received a Presidential Unit Citation The Presidential Unit Citation is a senior unit award granted to military units which have performed an extremely meritorious or heroic act, usually in the face of an armed enemy.  for his service in the Battle of Solomon The Battle of Solomon was a major engagement in the anime and manga series Mobile Suit Gundam. It was one of the decisive battles of the devastating One Year War and often considered the turning point of the war in space (Operation Odessa being the equivalent on Earth  Islands while aboard the USS Enterprise during World War II. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

He lived in Bloomington, N.Y., before settling in this area two years ago.

He was employed as a sheet metal worker for 50 years, including 10 years on the Alaska pipeline. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 38 and was recognized for 50 years of service in 1998.

His interests included aerodynamics aerodynamics, study of gases in motion. As the principal application of aerodynamics is the design of aircraft, air is the gas with which the science is most concerned. , pollution control, recycling and U.S. flags. He enjoyed animals.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Holcomb and Debra Whitman, both of Eugene; a son, Marcin of Sebastopol, Calif.; a brother, Glenn, of Williamsport, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Monday's gathering will be held at 3:30 p.m. at U.S. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 293 in Eugene.

Patricia Bennett

Patricia Joyce "Patty" Bennett of Eugene died June 24 of cirrhosis of the liver Cirrhosis of the liver

Velma May Bilderback-Butler of Eugene died June 19 of age-related causes. She was 91.

Bilderback-Butler was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Hillsboro to Joseph and Lula Hubbard Fisher. She married Leonard "Pete" Bilderback. He died in 1972.

She moved to Lane County in 1945 and settled in Eugene in 1995.

She was employed as a sales clerk for Alexander Department Store and worked at Chase Gardens. She enjoyed playing cards and sewing. She was a member of the Wendling Preservation Society.

Survivors include a son, George Bilderback of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho Coeur d'Alene (IPA: [kɚ də liːn]) is the county seat and largest city of Kootenai County, Idaho, United States. .

Joseph Garwood

VENETA - A private family service will be held for Joseph Denton Garwood of Veneta, who died June 27 of cancer. He was 68.

Garwood was born Feb. 13, 1936, in Massilon, Ohio, to Perry and Marge Lappin Garwood. He married Joanne White in Dade County, Fla., on May 18, 1964.

He lived in Key West, Fla., and Thousand Oaks, Calif., before settling in Veneta in 1972.

He served in the Navy. He worked as a marketing director for Colonial Life and Accident.

He enjoyed traditional archery, sailing and travel. He was a member of the Oregon Bowhunters Association and the Traditional Archers Association.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph III of Eugene; a daughter, Marjorie Wilson of Eugene; a sister, Marjorie Slaughter of Harrisburg, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
