WESTLAKE VILLAGE - For a moment, Oaks Christian of Westlake Village looked vulnerable Friday.

The team that had outscored its opponents 613-80 this season and won 29 straight games and two consecutive Southern Section Div.  was the last low point of the game for the Lions, who defeated visiting Nordhoff 35-7 in a Div A DIV Associate of Divinity . XI semifinal game. The Lions - who have won 10 straight playoff games - play the winner of today's Grace Brethren of Simi Valley/San Jacinto game at Newbury Park High next weekend.

After the two early mistakes, Tyler finished with 194 yards and the Lions' final three touchdowns. He scored on runs of 10, 26 and 12 yards. Clausen was 15 of 20 for 213 yards and two touchdowns.

Clausen threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Sean Wiser with 4:38 left in the first quarter to open the scoring, then added a 15-yard scoring pass to Andru Stewart less than four minutes later.

After a lengthy Nordhoff drive that stalled on the Oaks Christian 24-yard line, Tyler scored on Oaks Christian's next two drives.

Nordhoff entered Oaks Christian territory only four times. It scored on its final drive - a 1-yard run by Tyler Whitcomb.

The Lions held Nordhoff to nine first downs and 78 first half yards.

Whitcomb led Nordhoff with 107 yards rushing.

It was third straight year the two teams met in the semifinals. Oaks Christian won 33-14 in 2003 and 42-6 last year.

The last meeting between the two Tri-Valley League foes on Nov. 11 was marred by penalties, prompting the two coaches to write a letter emphasizing good sportsmanship by fans. The letter was handed out to all in attendance at Friday's game.
