has resigned as the boys' basketball coach at Oaks Christian of Westlake Village after two seasons with the Lions.

Moore, who replaced Gary Abraham midway through the 2003-04 season and led the Lions to the Southern Section Div. V semifinals, said Thursday he was asked to step down during a meeting last week with Oaks Christian athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  Jan Hethcock.

``What became pretty obvious during our meeting was that my ideals and my goals for the program were quite a bit different than (Oaks Christian's) goals,'' Moore said. ``That doesn't make either one of us bad people or even wrong. We just have a difference of opinion.''

Hethcock, citing personnel confidentiality, declined comment on the reasons behind Moore's resignation.

``We're looking forward to the future of the program, and we're currently accepting applications and feel confident we'll have a quality coach in place soon,'' Hethcock said.

Oaks Christian finished 8-18 and fourth in the Frontier League The Frontier League, based in Troy, Illinois, is a professional, independent baseball organization located in the Midwestern United States and Western Pennsylvania. The most severe injury was a broken hand suffered in January by standout Matt Hornbuckle, which sidelined the high-scoring guard most of the team's remaining games.

``It was a trying season, and we went though a lot,'' Moore said. ``But I thought we were headed in the right direction. But, again, it's obvious we just see things a little differently.''

Moore hopes to be on someone's bench next season.

``Some people have already reached out to me, which I appreciate,'' Moore said. ``I feel pretty good about a few things out there.''

--David Humphreys isn't Lancaster High's new boys' basketball coach after all. Selected as Jesse Parker's replacement three weeks ago, Humphreyes directed recent workouts with the team but was not approved by the school board Wednesday.

``I just found out today. There's a lot of stuff going on, but I'd rather keep my mouth shut about it,'' Humphreys said. ``I'm perturbed per·turb

Humphreys said he was informed of the decision by Todd Zucker, Lancaster's vice-principal in charge of athletics. Zucker wasn't available for comment.

``It's not my decision. I only have control about what I do,'' Humphreys said. ``All the other things are behind the scenes.''
