Peter O'Malley (born in December 12, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York) [1]
, who brought Asian players to America's major leagues, is helping expand baseball into Ireland.

O'Malley, an Irish-American, is spending the Fourth of July Fourth of July, Independence Day, or July Fourth, U.S. holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Celebration of it began during the American Revolution.  in Dublin to open the country's first baseball facility. He paid for the construction of a youth field and an adult field at Corkagh Park.

``In the past, the children have been playing baseball on corners of rugby and soccer fields in Ireland, frequently being asked to relocate during a game,'' O'Malley said. ``Now the children and families of Dublin have their own field of dreams to enjoy the game of baseball.''

U.S. Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith Jean Kennedy Smith was born Jean Ann Kennedy on February 20, 1928 in Brookline, Massachusetts, the eighth of the nine children of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy.  was to throw out the first pitch today. Also planned for this most American of holidays was a barbecue and exhibition games.
