He replaces Walter M. Wirfs, who left WWPA this spring for a position with Louisiana-Pacific Corp. A long-time industry association veteran, O'Halloran has served as technical services division director for APA-The Engineered Wood Association in Tacoma, Wash., since 1992. His career with APA (All Points Addressable) Refers to an array (bitmapped screen, matrix, etc.) in which all bits or cells can be individually manipulated. APA - Application Portability Architecture spanned more than a quarter century, starting in 1973 when he was hired as a research engineer for the association. During his 26 years with APA, O'Halloran worked as manager of research and development and as assistant technical director. In 1990, he served as executive vice president of Engineered Wood Systems, which is now a related corporation to APA. O'Halloran holds a doctorate in wood engineering from Colorado State University Colorado State University, at Fort Collins; land-grant with state and federal support; chartered 1870, opened 1879 as an agricultural college, assumed present name in 1957. There is a veterinary teaching hospital, an agricultural campus, and a research campus. . He is a past president of the Forest Products Society and has published scores of technical and research papers. Western Wood Products Association represents lumber lumber, term for timber that has been cut into boards for use as a building material. The major steps in producing lumber involve logging (the felling and preparation of timber for shipment to sawmills), sawing the logs into boards, grading the boards according to manufacturers in the 12 western states and Alaska from its headquarters in Portland, Ore.
