 O'BRIEN JOINS APACHE AS DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS
 DENVER, March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Apache Corp. (NYSE: APA) announced today that Urban (Obie) F. O'Brien III has been named Director of Governmental Affairs. His responsibilities include monitoring emerging legislative and regulatory changes and maintaining contacts with legislators, agencies and industry groups.
 O'Brien joined Apache after managing governmental affairs at Mitchell Energy and Development Corp. Prior to working at Mitchell, he was the special projects director for U.S. Senator Lloyd M. Bentsen, Jr., and the projects coordinator for U.S. Congressman Michael A. Andrews.
 O'Brien earned a bachelor of arts degree from The University of Texas and a doctor of jurisprudence from The University of Texas School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November of 1978.
