There is light manufacturing.  Utilities Inc. is offering its natural gas sales customers the option of locking in their fuel prices this winter as a means of avoiding price volatility which frequently occurs in the natural gas market during the winter months.

the price participating gas customers pay for the gas commodity portion of their monthly gas bills.

About one-third of a residential gas bill reflects the commodity (the actual fuel), and two-thirds of the bill represents the price for delivery. The commodity portion of the customer's bill is a pass-through of the actual costs O&R incurs for gas supplies. These costs are represented on the customer's gas bill as the Gas Adjustment Clause, which captures the frequent changes in the market price of gas.

The aim of the fixed-price gas option is to lock in a price for the commodity cost of gas from Dec. 1, 1997 through April 30, 1998. The locked-in price will add a certain degree of stability to the customer's gas bills this winter. There is, however, no guarantee of price savings. The actual market price of gas may rise above the locked-in price in which case the participating customer saves money. On the other hand, the market price of gas could also fall below the locked-in price, in which case the participating customer will pay more for their gas this winter than O&R's other sales customers.

The fixed-price option is being extended to 10 percent of O&R's gas sales customers, so eligibility is on a "first-come, first-served “FCFS” redirects here. For the figure skating competition, see Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.
