Professor von Wartburg is an international authority on biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry. He was a Member of the Executive Committee of Novartis and Chief Communication Officer of Novartis until 1999. He is a graduate of the Universities of Basel, Paris, Princeton, Stanford and Harvard Law School; Professor on public health policy at the Saint Gall Graduate School of Economics, Business and Public Administration, and author of various books and articles on drug abuse, pharmaceutical legislation, biotechnology, and on issues for management, communications and business administration.
