Nymox's AlzheimAlert Test Further Supported by New Medical Publications.

Nymox Pharmaceutical Corporation (NASDAQ: NYMX) announced today that new clinical studies in peer-reviewed medical journals provide further confirmation of the accuracy and efficacy of the company's AlzheimAlert(TM) urinary test.

AlzheimAlert(TM) is Nymox's patented state of the art aid to the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. The test detects high levels of a brain protein (neural thread protein or NTP) known to be elevated in the urine of patients with Alzheimer's disease. The test is available to physicians nationally through the company's Clinical Reference Laboratory in New Jersey at a cost of $295.

The first report is in the new issue of the highly regarded peer-reviewed journal, Alzheimer's Reports, and concerns the results of a successful double-blind study involving Alzheimer's disease patients and normal controls totaling 140 participants from five institutions. The study was co-authored by Dr. Suzanna Levy of Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York; Dr. Gregory Golden Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Thomas Jefferson University; and the Dementia Clinic, Department of Veterans Affairs, Coatesville, Pennsylvania; Dr. Robert Rush of Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc., Elmwood Park, New Jersey; and Nymox scientists.

The second new clinical trial study will appear soon in a different peer-reviewed medical journal and documents the results of another significant and successful double-blind clinical trial which involved 122 cases from 102 individual physicians throughout the United States. These reports follow the recent publication of a new study from Brown University in the Journal of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology (February, 2001; 60: 195-207) which provided new evidence linking increased production of NTP to neuronal cell death found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease.
