Nycomed Amersham PLC Opens Business in Shanghai.

Nycomed Amersham Plc, a British pharmaceutical company, and its Chinese partners held a ceremony on Oct. 26 for the business opening of Shanghai Nycomed Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (SNPC) The joint venture has a total investment of 34 million U. S. dollars. Nycomed Amersham holds 80% stakes, Shanghai Zhangjiang Hightech Park Development Co., Ltd. holds 13% stakes and Shanghai Huaihai Pharmaceutical Factory holds 7% stakes. Nycomed Amersham has a leading position in the world in terms of radiation therapy and the production of diagnostic apparatuses. SNPC will provide Nycomed Amersham with advanced non-ion Xray contrast medium and other contrast medium products in the domestic market. SNPC was established in 1998 and will start production at the end of this year.
