Nutcracker in Italy.

I loved senior editor Wendy Wendy is a female name which may be used as a short form for Gwendolyn, or in its own right. Its popularity is attributed to the character Wendy Darling from the children's play and novel Peter Pan, by J.M. Barrie. The character Wendy was inspired by a real girl.  Perron's article in the December December: see month.  2002 issue of DANCE MAGAZINE, "Fokine Fo·kine   , Michel 1880-1942.

dance. I was an Arab boy covered with lots of greasepaint! My second year, I was an angel and my last year, I danced in the corps of the "Waltz of the Flowers" at the Playhouse on the Mall. (Wendy was the soloist in "Waltz of the Flowers" then, partnered by Patrick Elliot.) I watched and learned every role from the wings, and when I prepared my own Nutcracker years later, I remembered.

I have my own ballet school now (almost forty years later) in a small town near Venice, Italy. During the past thirteen years, we have done The Nutcraker four times, once by invitation from the Teatro Goldoni in Venice, but the performances were always in the spring. On December 12, 2002, with the help of our city, we did The Nutcracker at Christmas for the first time! So much of our production is from the memories of my experience in Fokine's Nutcracker. Something of this tradition lives in a small town in Italy.
