Nurses alerted to human rights abuses.

I am a Chinese nurse practising in New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland.  and I am also a practitioner of Falun Gong Falun Gong

Qigong (pronounced "chee-gung," also spelled chi kung) is translated from the Chinese to mean "energy cultivation" or "working with the life energy.
, the practice of refining the body and mind through special exercises and meditation. Falun Gong is not a religion; its principles are truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. I want to bring to the attention of New Zealand nurses a terrible human rights issue in China. Many thousands of people, especially Falun Gong practitioners, are having their organs illegally harvested and sold. For example, some hospital patients later find out they had a kidney removed while undergoing treatment for something else. What would this do to professional/patient relationships in New Zealand? Authorities are paid money to execute prisoners, not all of whom would qualify for execution, even under China's laws, and their bodies are then cremated, instead of being handed over to their families for burial. There are recorded instances of bodies being completely emptied of "harvestable" organs.

Most especially, though, the peace-loving FaLun Gong practitioners are being illegally detained (in their thousands) then tortured, and are having their organs harvested while stilt stilt, common name for some members of the family Recurvirostridae, shore birds including the avocet. Stilts, as their name implies, have the longest legs of any bird except the flamingo.  alive. This apparently improves the "essence" of the organ. Evidence of these abuses is availabe in a document, Report into allegations of organ harvesting Organ harvesting is the removal, retention and use of human organs and tissue to be used in transplants. As a Chinese nurse, I do what I can to help my people. I am making people aware, so something may be done about these terrible events. I am asking nurses who feel able, to help me, in things such as writing letters to MPs, attending rallies, and informing our communities, in order to raise awareness of the issues. I have further information for anyone wishing to know more. Email me on suhanhsu@fastmail.fm.
