Nucor appoints official to new position.


Nucor Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE) is one of the largest steel producers in the United States, and the largest of the "mini-mill" operators (those using electric arc furnaces to melt scrap steel, as opposed to companies using traditional blast furnace technology).  Corp., Charlotte, N.C., has announced that Joseph Rutkowski has taken over the new position of executive vice president of Business Development International.

Rutkowski will no longer oversee operations at the company's two plate mills or the structural mill joint venture Nucor-Yamato Steel. These divisions will fall under the supervision of Nucor's Executive Vice President John Ferriola.

Rutkowski will work on establishing overseas joint venture partners that will use the Castrip technology.

The International Business Development team will also be responsible for the progress of Nucor's international raw materials strategy.
