Novis Telecom Deploys Telcordia Network Engineer 2.1; Novis Upgrades to Next Generation Geospatial Network Management Solution.

Telcordia(TM) Technologies, the world's largest provider of network software, consulting and engineering services to the telecommunications industry, today announced that Novis Telecom S.A. has successfully deployed Telcordia Network Engineer 2.1, to help achieve its goal of a spatially referenced Network Information System solution.

The system upgrade involved implementation, data migration of Novis's telecommunications network and mapping information from the Network Engineer 1.2.2 version, and configuration of customer specific 2.1 requirements.

Novis Telecom, a global telecommunication operator in Portugal since 2000, is a subsidiary of both France Telecom and SonaeCom. Novis's broadband network consists of more than 2540 km of optical fiber, serves 100% of the Portuguese market, and provides voice, Internet, data and IT services to more than 120,000 residential, Small Office/Home Office (SoHo's), SME's and corporate subscribers.

Network Engineer 2.1, built on the ESRI(R) ArcGIS(TM) platform, will provide Novis with an all-inclusive set of capabilities for managing its detailed physical network inventory in a geospatial environment, enabling the distribution of data across the organization, from design and planning to data storage and management, reporting and analysis. Serving as prime contractor, ESRI Portugal - Sistemas e Informacao Geografica, SA - a Value Added Reseller (VAR) of the Network Engineer product, provided overall project management and system implementation services, while MESA Solutions, a Telcordia subsidiary, provided consulting services.
