Novel shrink film needs no heat. (Keeping up with Extrusion).

This film shrinks in contact with water, not heat. The patented dual-material film combines an elastomer elastomer (ĭlăs`təmər), substance having to some extent the elastic properties of natural rubber. The term is sometimes used technically to distinguish synthetic rubbers and rubberlike plastics from natural rubber.  with a water-dispersible polymer. It is stretched mono- or biaxially to as much as twice its original dimensions. The stiffer water-dispersible polymer holds the stretch while the film remains dry. But when wet, the water-dispersible polymer softens and allows the elastomer to shrink back Verb 1. shrink back - pull away from a source of disgust or fear

Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Roswell, Ga., developed the concept for disposable-diaper backing made from mono-layer blends of the two materials (covered by U.S. Patent #5,641,562). Kimberly-Clark is now looking to license it for other applications such as moisture indicators, sensors, seals, gaskets, and form-fitting packaging like horticultural hor·ti·cul·ture
