These works came into the custody of the State of the Netherlands and formed the "NK collection" (named after the SNK SNK Shin Nihon Kikaku (Japanese: New Japan Product; video game manufacturer) SNK Strong Name Key (.Net file extension) SNK Shin Nihon Kikaku Corporation (Japan) , Stichting Nederlands Kunstbezit). The NK collection consists of 4,217 works of art. In some cases the owners were Jewish. Since 2001, the Netherlands has pursued a liberalized restitution In the context of Criminal Law, state programs under which an offender is required, as a condition of his or her sentence, to repay money or donate services to the victim or society; with respect to maritime law, the restoration of articles lost by jettison, done when the policy for cultural objects from the NK collection that, as a result of the Second World War, were involuntarily in·vol·un·tar·y adj. 1. Under the liberalized restitution policy, written applications for restitution may be submitted no later than 4 April 2007.
