With the latest round won, Bruce Ratner Bruce Ratner (born January 23, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio) is president and CEO of Forest City Ratner, the New York division of Forest City Enterprises, which is based in Cleveland. Ratner was New York City's most active real estate developer during the 1990s.  will pick up the Nets for $300 million. Last week the NBA's Board of Governors approved the sale which is expected to close sometime this week.

Forest City Ratner Companies, an affiliate of Forest City Enterprises, Inc., will build a 19,000-seat arena in Brooklyn at the intersection of Flatbush and Atlantic avenues.

The arena, designed by internationally-renowned architect Frank Gehry Frank Owen Gehry, CC (born Ephraim Owen Goldberg, February 28, 1929) is a Pritzker Prize winning architect based in Los Angeles, California.

His buildings, including his private residence, have become tourist attractions.

 of Brooklyn Atlantic Yards The Atlantic Yards is a mixed-use commercial and residential development project of 16 buildings, currently proposed in the neighborhoods of Prospect Heights and Park Slope, adjacent to Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene in Brooklyn, New York City. , an urban complex of housing, commercial offices, retail space and public open space--including a park on the Arena's roof, ringed by an open-air running track that will double as a skating rink in the winter (and offer spectacular views of Brooklyn and Manhattan year-round).

In addition to the 800,000 s/f Arena, Brooklyn Atlantic Yards is expected to include 2.1 million s/f of commercial office space; 300,000 s/f of retail space; 4.4 million s/f of residential space; approximately 4,500 units of affordable, middle-income and market-rate housing; and six acres of parks and areas for passive and active recreation designed by noted landscape architect Laurie Olin Laurie Olin (b. 1938 in Marshfield, Wisconsin) is an American landscape architect. He has worked on everything from private residences to large public parks. Olin grew up in Alaska, and earned his degree in Architecture from the University of Washington, in Seattle. . Olin will also turn Atlantic Avenue into a tree-lined boulevard as it flows past the site.

The Arena's Atlantic and Flatbush avenue facades will be made of glass, allowing patrons on the concourses inside the Arena to glimpse the vibrant life of downtown Brooklyn and flooding the inside with natural light during the day.
