Notes: from the underground.THE BELL RAYS CONTINUE TO AMAZE. Just saw 'em play the other day and was blown away by a set that consisted of nearly all new material, which rocked. Sure enough, a new record is on the way, but until that one comes out I highly recommend the Raw Collection CD on Upper Cut Records. It's got all the hard to find tracks from 7"s and compilations, most of it never before on CD, and it rules. Bell Rays rule...you eat a bag of dicks. Rock and soul... Whenever you find yourself in a bind, not sure of what course of action to take, take heart! Just ask yourself "What would Lemmy do?" That's right, the mole-faced, mustachioed mus·ta·chio also mous·ta·chio n. pl. mus·ta·chios A mustache, especially a luxuriant one. [Ultimately from Italian dialectal mustaccio, mustache; see mustache. singer of Motorhead provides a true example of how to live one's life. And if you don't believe me, look no further than the vinyl reissue of Motorhead's Ace of Spades on Get Back Records. It's a little pricey due to the heavyweight pressing, but if you don't already own this record (and you'd better have a good excuse not to) you must get this. Motorhead still blows doors and appeals to bikers, punks and metalheads alike. Try to resist 'Ace of Spades," "Fast and Loose," "Jailbait jail·bait n. Slang A person below the age of consent with whom sexual intercourse can constitute statutory rape. ," and the anthemic "We are the Road Crew." Lemmy is like Jesus for dirtbags... Turbonegro broke up. But then they got back together again! Nothing is ever going to top Apocalypse Dudes but that don't mean that the new shit don't rock. The hairy, leather-clad sons have a new one, Scandinavian Leather on Epitaph epitaph, strictly, an inscription on a tomb; by extension, a statement, usually in verse, commemorating the dead. The earliest such inscriptions are those found on Egyptian sarcophagi. , and it will most likely find its way into more hands and convert even more people. Convert them to what, however, is the question... And speaking of an all-out rock attack, Texas' The Sons of Hercules are huge (singer Frank Puglise is 6'6"). By my count this is their third LP, and it's been a while since their last one. Blistering rock with a big sound that'll peel paint, look for Right Now on Suprema Records... Seattle's RC5 continue their balls-out aural assault. A new CD EP entitled Run, Baby, Run is five more kill tunes, including the Nervous Eater's classic "Just Head." Hopefully they'll play out more so they c an show the kids what's really goin' on... Oh shit, someone mixed Robatussen with vodka and Vicodin again, and I think I know who. Finally the Clone Defects' record comes out, and it is just as tweaked as the first. It'll leave you not feelin' right, so much so that you'll play it again and again. A rumbling in the gut, a loosening of the bowels... ah, this is rock and roll. Look for Shapes of Venus on In The Red...
