Not competing, not closing.In response to the June editorial, I am not sure if our facility produces anything that could be named a winner in the casting competition, but I am sure we will not close our doors right now. Our goal is to fill customers' orders to the best of our ability. Most of the castings we make have been made before, re-engineered and value-added. We do not make any money engineering. We make money making castings. Our shop is not a high volume shop. We make castings that others don't want to or can't make. No foreign metalcasting facility is interested in two pieces of 8630 steel that weigh 55 lbs. But we are. We have lots of these kinds of customers. There are a lot of niche facilities in this country. One problem some of them brought upon themselves is not knowing the niche they should be in.
