Not all available volunteers are used, study says.Toronto--The assumption that organizations are willing to use all the volunteer labor available to them is challenged in a study of 28 Toronto hospitals. The researchers report that the hospitals * used more than 2-million volunteer hours per year labor; * that the quantity of volunteer hours demanded is a decreasing function of their costs; and * is influenced by productivity, output, and labor market labor market A place where labor is exchanged for wages; an LM is defined by geography, education and technical expertise, occupation, licensure or certification requirements, and job experience institutions.
