NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 1998--$88.5 billion asset Norwest Bank, one of the nation's top originators of ACH transactions, has selected Politzer & Haney's Web Payments(tm) for business and corporate customer ACH origination. Norwest will integrate Web Payments into the new Norwest CustomerConnect (sm) suite of browser-based financial management products offered to its business and corporate customers.

, senior vice president, Norwest Treasury Management, Norwest Banks. "We anticipate that they will bring the same high level of business expertise and customer support to their web product."

"We are very pleased that Norwest has chosen Politzer & Haney Web-based ACH origination. We are looking forward to expanding our relationship with Norwest Bank," notes Chris Haney Christopher Deane Haney (born November 16 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland) is a former left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1991 to 2002 for the Montreal Expos, Kansas City Royals, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, and Boston Red Sox. , president of Politzer & Haney. "We see Web Payments as providing advantages to institutions of any size, no matter how they want to structure a Web offering - whether integrated into a proprietary platform as Norwest is doing, as a stand-alone ACH product, or as part of our comprehensive Web Cash Manager solution."

Web Payments, in production since late last year, is the first product in Politzer & Haney's Web Cash Manager(tm) product line that includes ACH Origination, Information Reporting, and Wire Transfer Initiation. It allows an institution to take advantage of Internet technology to deliver cash management services to corporate customers as part of their corporate intranet/extranet, or directly over the Internet. Web Payments offers financial institutions a range of alternatives, including running the product stand-alone, as part of the Web Cash Manager product line, or integrated, as at Norwest, with a bank's proprietary platform.

Web Payments provides an alternate channel for the delivery of cash management services, such as payroll, State and Federal tax payments, and cash concentration and disbursement DISBURSEMENT. The product eliminates software distribution and reduces customer service for the bank. Moreover, the product positions institutions to extend their cash management services to a whole new set of customers. The software is easily tailored to an institution's specific requirements, giving them flexible processing and service options.

"Internet technology allows financial institutions to take a major step forward in electronic banking service delivery," Haney states. "Institutions can grow their customer base beyond traditional markets. This is perhaps the biggest and most rapid change in the technology for electronic banking delivery that I have seen in my years in the business. Web Payments increases an institution's ability to reach new customers and new segments of the market, particularly given its ease of use for State and Federal tax payments, especially the EFTPS EFTPS Electronic Federal Tax Payment System
