Also just a few miles east of Destin is the fabulous Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, which expanded last year when it opened the Grand Sandestin, a luxury condominium-style hotel with 168 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Last summer, the resort also opened its $16 million Baytowne Conference Center, whose 32,000 square feet of meeting space nearly doubled the resort's total event space to 65,000 square feet. The resort, which offers 1,300 guest accommodation units, also recently opened the Village of Baytowne Wharf, an upscale dining and shopping district.

An increasingly popular tourist destination A tourist destination is a city, town or other area the economy of which is dependent to a significant extent on the revenues accruing from tourism.

Averaging 320 days of sunshine every year, it's a safe bet that the weather will allow meeting delegates to enjoy Panama City's 27 miles of beaches that are regarded as among the nation's finest. One of the city's leading attractions, Gulf World Marine Park, recently completed a $6.5 million project. It now features more than 25 shows and exhibits, including the SplashMagic Laser Show.
