Northwest Division.Many of the Northwest Division members attended the MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) National Conference, which was held in our division in the spectacular city of Seattle, Washington, April 2-6. 2005 Three states in the Northwest Division will present state conferences in June. Oregon MTA will host its state conference in Corvallis, June 24-26. Antonio Pompa-Baldi, silver medalist of the 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition was first held in 1962 in Fort Worth, Texas. This was created by Fort Worth area teachers in honor of Van Cliburn, who had won the first International Tchaikovsky Competition four years prior with Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto. , will De the featured recitalist. Doug Humpherys, from the Eastman School of Music, will be the featured guest clinician and recitalist for the Wyoming MTA conference. June 16-18 in Cheyenne. Following the Oregon MTA conference. the Piano Festival Northwest w be held July 10-17 in Portland The festival will include five recitals, master classes, lectures, films, art and an optional Chopin workshop presented by Edward Auer from Indiana University. Other festival artists will include Carol Montparker, Jon Kimura Parker Jon Kimura Parker (born 25 December 1959) is a Canadian pianist. He was born in Vancouver, Canada.
