Northrop Grumman has selected Marconi Selenia Communications to supply the back-up radio for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter programme. Northrop is developing the F-35 advanced communications, navigation and identification (CNI) avionics suite under a contract to Lockheed Martin. The back-up radio provides emergency voice communication capability for the CNI system. Contract financial details had, at time of writing, not been released.
