Northrop Grumman has received a $ 56.2 million contract from the US Air Force to provide the Enhanced Land/Maritime Mode (ELMM) mobile target precision tracking and engagement system for the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint Stars) aircraft fleet. The ELMM targeting capability was demonstrated with GPS-guided Jdam missiles during live drops in 2003 and 2004, which has led to this capability being installed throughout the Joint Stars fleet. This contract is in synergy with the Advanced Radar Mode (Arm) upgrade to the Joint Stars sensor, which will provide a Swath Synthetic Aperture Radar mode and a new processing architecture to the aircraft's sensors.
