), provider of Livelink(R), the leading collaboration and knowledge management software for the global enterprise, today announced that Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) is an aerospace and defense conglomerate that is the result of the 1994 purchase of Grumman by Northrop. The company is the third largest defense contractor for the U.S.  Integrated Systems relies on Livelink to help it meet key business objectives and collaborate with external partners. Integrated Systems is a premier aerospace systems integration enterprise and the prime contractor or major subcontractor on a number of strategic military aircraft programs.

The deployment of Livelink at a key business unit of the Integrated Systems sector, called Airborne Ground Surveillance & Battle Management Systems (AGS&BM Systems), has been a significant part of the site's knowledge management initiative to support multiple new programs and proposal efforts. AGS&BM Systems is primarily focused on the E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS), as well as several other airborne systems. "Northrop Grumman shares the same end goals as other organizations -- to improve customer satisfaction, to reduce the costs of delivering information to those who need it most, and to speed time-to-market," said Mike Farrell For the Northern Irish civil rights activist, see .

"By combining collaboration and knowledge management functionality, Livelink enables AGS&BM Systems to better manage critical intellectual capital, as well as share that information electronically with its customers, partners and suppliers who require it."

The Program Management and Data Management groups of AGS&BM Systems required an online system for the process of developing, releasing, and publishing program documents. Livelink was chosen to fulfill these requirements, as well as to provide improved visibility into the status of documents in progress and reduce paper processes.

By enabling the creation of an integrated information environment that is accessible electronically, Livelink also supports AGS&BM Systems' commitment to following a Contractor Integrated Technical Information Service (CITIS CITIS Contractor Integrated Technical Information Services

). A paperless approach to information management, CITIS represents an arrangement by which Northrop Grumman agrees to manage technical program data and provide online access to authorized government users. This approach vastly improves efficiency by eliminating redundancy and duplication of data between Northrop Grumman and its US military clients.
