 Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) is an aerospace and defense conglomerate that is the result of the 1994 purchase of Grumman by Northrop. The company is the third largest defense contractor for the U.S.  Corp. appointed Frederick L. Ricker as sector vice president and deputy, Programs; David L. Ryan as sector vice president and program director of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System; James M. Myers as vice president, Sensors and Payloads; and Stuart T. Linsky as vice president, Satellite Communications. Previously, Ricker was vice president and program deputy of NPOESS NPOESS National Polar-Orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (US NOAA)  and Ryan was vice president, Sensors and Payload (1) Refers to the "actual data" in a packet or file minus all headers attached for transport and minus all descriptive meta-data. In a network packet, headers are appended to the payload for transport and then discarded at their destination. . Myers previously served as vice president, Satellite Communications and Linsky was program director of Space Technology's Transformational Communication Systems.
