Northland Starts Two Swedish Drill Programs.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Buck Morrow, President of Northland Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:NAU) ("Northland") is pleased to announce that drill rigs have arrived at the Barsele gold project and the Stora Sahavaara magnetite project, both in Sweden. Drilling at both projects is underway.

Barsele-Norra Gold Project, Sweden

Northland's geologists are planning up to 2,500m of core drilling in the current program at the Barsele / Norra gold project: the final meterage will depend on the timing of the spring thaw. The objectives of the program are to continue with the larger diameter drilling within the limits of the existing resource to confirm the potential to increase the average gold grade in the resource, and to convert inferred resources to indicated resources. A more extensive program is planned for later in the year once additional rigs have been secured.

Stora Sahavaara

A second drill rig has arrived at the Stora Sahavaara magnetite iron project and drilling is underway. Up to 2,000m of core drilling is planned, depending on the timing of the spring thaw. Northland's technical staff have completed an internal company resource calculation which is currently being reviewed by an independent third party consultant. Management's objective for the coming year is to outline a resource of at least 200-million tonnes of magnetite at Stora Sahavaara for incorporation into a full feasibility study.

NI43-101 Statement

In a news release dated March 1, 2006 Northland announced the results of the most recent NI43-101 compliant gold resource calculation for the 100%-owned Barsele-Norra gold project. The calculation was audited by Chlumsky Armbrust & Meyer LLC (CAM), an independent, mineral resource, consulting and engineering group based in Lakewood, Colorado. Using a 0.7g/t Au cut off the indicated and inferred resources are:

Mineral resource estimates, geostatistics and resource model construction were completed using MineSight three-dimensional modelling software. The resource estimates were prepared by Bart Stryhas, PhD, structural geology, and Vance Thornsberry, P Geol. The resource model and estimates were subsequently reviewed by Chlumsky Armbrust & Meyer LLC (CAM), an independent, mineral resource, consulting and engineering group based in Lakewood, Colorado. CAM has reviewed the database and modeling procedures used by Northland to update the Central Zone model. On the basis of this review CAM believes that the updated Central Zone model has been prepared according to accepted engineering practice for project at this level of development and that the results obtained are suitable for determining if further exploration work on the property is warranted.

Vance V. Thornsberry, P.Geol., Vice President of Exploration for Northland Resources, is the Qualified Person as defined in NI43-101, responsible for overseeing the design and execution of the Barsele exploration program and for the design and execution of the Stora Sahavaara drill program. In accordance with NI 43-101, Mr. Thornsberry has verified the data disclosed in this release other than certain information provided by MinMet PLC.
