Northern Virginia Community Foundation Names 2005 Community Leadership Award Winner.

MCLEAN, Va. -- The Northern Virginia Community Foundation is pleased to announce their 2005 Community Leadership Award will be awarded to Gary McCollum, vice president and region manager for Cox Communications Northern Virginia. The award presentation will take place October 7, 2005 at the McLean Hilton as part of the Northern Virginia Community Foundation's annual gala and silent auction.

"The Northern Virginia Community Foundation Leadership Award is presented annually for outstanding community service and dedication to improving the quality of life for all Northern Virginians and to promote awareness of the significance of individual action in effecting change. Our selection of Mr. McCollum as our 2005 award recipient was based on his outstanding, long-term contributions to the community," said Janet Kreutter, President, Northern Virginia Community Foundation.

Mr. McCollum currently serves on the boards of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, Virginians for the Arts, the Arts Council of Fairfax County, George Mason University Minority Advisory Board and the George Mason University Foundation Virginia Cable and Telecommunications Association, Northern Virginia Urban League, Fairfax County Public Library Foundation, and the Virginia Opera.

"I am deeply honored to accept this recognition on behalf of our 1,000 Cox Northern Virginia employees. For more than 100 years, Cox has maintained the corporate mantra of giving back to the communities it serves. We're a national company, but a local friend to our customers and the communities in which we operate. It is especially gratifying to receive this award from Northern Virginia Community Foundation because I know our two organizations share the common vision of strengthening our Fairfax community through public service, philanthropy and volunteerism," said Mr. McCollum.

"We are proud to have Gary McCollum join the prestigious list of Northern Virginia Community Foundation Leadership Award winners. We welcome the opportunity to celebrate the successful efforts of people and organizations that are making our communities better places to live and work," said George Albright, Chairman of the Northern Virginia Community Foundation Board of Directors.
