North American Oxide and Purity Zinc Metals Co., Ltd. have announced their affiliation under common ownership. The owners of North American Oxide have purchased Purity Zinc Metals Co., Ltd. Purity Zinc Metals, located in Stoney Creek, Ontario, is said to be North America's largest manufacturer of high purity zinc dusts and the largest independent zinc alloy producer in Canada. North American Oxide is said to be North America's newest manufacturer of zinc oxides. Their environmentally designed plant, located in Clarksville, TN, started the production of high quality zinc oxides in June of 1990.

The first stage of a European CRAFT (Co-operative Research Action for Technology) project, entitled "Service life of rubber-to-metal bonded articles" has been completed, and the second stage, involving further definition of the work program and the incorporation of new participants, is underway. Project proposer Aegis Rubber Engineering of Haywards Heath, U.K., has asked the Malaysian Rubber Producer's Research Association (MRPRA) to carry out the research and technological development work for the project, the general aim of which is better prediction of the durability of bonds in rubber-to-metal bonded articles. Besides the proposer and MRPRA, the project has so far enlisted the support of Delta Lab of France, Alga and Metalgomma of Italy, Gomy of Spain, Turmec of Ireland, Gummi-Metall-Technik of Germany and S.K. Bearings in the U.K.
