North America Die Casting Assn. announces 2001 International Die Casting Competition Winners. (Metalcasting Associations).

The North America Die Casting Assn. (NADCA), Rosemont, Illinois, announced the winners of its 2001 International Die Casting Competition. Winners were awarded in eight different categories: aluminum (squeeze/semi-solid), aluminum (less than 1 lb), aluminum (1-10 lb), aluminum (more than 10 lb), magnesium (less than 0.5 lb), magnesium (more than 0.5 lb), zinc (less than 6 oz/non-electroplated) and zinc (any size coated).

This year's winners were:

Aluminum (squeeze/semi-solid)-an independent rear suspension casting by SPX Corp., Contech Div., Portage, Michigan, for Visteon Corp;

Aluminum (less than 1 lb)--an air compressor "Endbell" by Aallied Die Casting Co., Rutherfordton, North Carolina, for DeVilbiss Air Power Co.;

Aluminum (1-10 lb)--a "B" piller casting by Alcan BCW Gmbh & Co. KG, Germany;

Aluminum (more than 10 lb)--a lower crankcase casting by J.V. Murcott & Sons, Ltd., Tamworth, Staffordshire, United Kingdom;

Magnesium (less than 0.5 lb)--a frame for a modem by Product Technologies, Inc., Maple Lake, Minnesota, for Novatel Wireless Technologies, Ltd;

Magnesium (more than 0.5 lb)--a cross car beam and instrument panel by Lunt Manufacturing Co., Inc., Schaumburg, Illinois, for GM;

Zinc (less than 6 oz/non-electroplated)--a front plate for an access extension shelf for telecommunication by Bruschi S.p.A., Milano, Italy;

Zinc (any size coated)--a 15-gram bracket by Dynacast Inc., Lake Forest, California.
