NORTEL NETWORKS, a Canadian telecommunications company, signed an agreement with Brazil's Claro, a subsidiary of America Movil, to provide a high-speed multimedia network, known as General Packet Radio The wireless transmission of data, which is divided into packets, or frames, for error checking. See ARDIS and BellSouth Intelligent Wireless Network. Service, across its GSM cellular network in the country. The new network is expected to be operational at the end of 2003.
