Norman F. Egbert named Allison Engine Co.'s executive vice president of engineering.


INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1996--Norman F. Egbert has been named Allison Engine Co.'s executive vice president of engineering.

Effective immediately, he replaces S. Michael Hudson who, for the past year, has acted as both Allison's executive vice president of engineering and president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

A native of Indianapolis, Egbert first joined Allison as a college student in the summer of 1966. After graduating from Purdue University Purdue University (pərdy`, -d`), main campus at West Lafayette, Ind.  in 1969, he began his career assigned to the development of enhanced engineering analysis tools. Subsequently, he spent a total of 12 years in compressor and turbine aerodynamic groups and two years in Model 250 hot section design. Egbert entered management as Allison's LHX LHX LIM Homeobox Gene

 engine configuration and performance manager, later becoming the T800 air vehicle engine integration manager. He was designated Allison's T800 chief engineer in 1986 and became LHTEC's engineering manager in 1989.

Most recently, Egbert served as chief engineer large engines. As such, he had full responsibility for the large military and commercial engine product line engineering functions. During his tenure in this position, the AE 2100A and the AE 2100A-powered Saab 2000 were FAA and JAA JAA Joint Aviation Authorities (European equivalent of FAA)

 certified. The AE 2100C was also certified and the AE 2100D3 and the AE 3007A are approaching certification.
