CUPERTINO, CA -- Will cellphones make Apple's iPod obsolete? A Nokia exec says it's inevitable.

Anssi Vanjoki, head of Nokia's (nokia.com) multimedia unit, said in March that single-application media devices like the iPod will give way to so-called converged devices that can handle digital media and voice and data transmission. He pointed to Konica Minolta's (konica.com) decision to exit the camera and photo businesses as an omen of what is to come. "In the next six to 12 months, there will be more of these announcements," Vanjoki said. "The next to disappear will be the makers of music devices and then the manufacturers of video cameras."
