Nokia Launches the Nokia Remote DSL System Solution to Help Broadband Operators Reach Remote Revenues.Business Editors/High-Tech Writers SUPERCOMM 2003 ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 3, 2003 Nokia today announces the availability of the Nokia Remote DSL DSL in full Digital Subscriber Line Broadband digital communications connection that operates over standard copper telephone wires. It requires a DSL modem, which splits transmissions into two frequency bands: the lower frequencies for voice (ordinary System solution. The system includes the Nokia Remote Deployment Access Cabinet (RDAC RDAC Redundant Disk Array Controller RDAC Report of the Department of Antiquities, Cyprus RDAC Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee (India) RDAC Remote Data Acquisition and Control RDAC Robust Dynamic Admission Control ), the Nokia D500 Remote Access Multiplexer (RAM), the Nokia Central Office Power System (CPS) and the Nokia Remote Power System (RPS rps abbr. revolutions per second ), all providing multiple DSL flavors for remote broadband locations. The Nokia RDAC aims to help broadband operators reduce the costs of reaching the large potential of additional revenues represented by remote users. The Nokia RDAC offers a fully integrated rapid deployment solution that does not require Right of Way, site works or heavy cable re-routing or splicing splicing /splic·ing/ (spli“sing) 1. the attachment of individual DNA molecules to each other, as in the production of chimeric genes. 2. RNA s. . "Nokia has looked carefully at the cost and efficiency challenges associated with remote DSL deployments and built a solution that aims to help broadband operators reduce costs in construction and installation, commissioning and turn up, as well as in provisioning. This solution has been designed to allow these operators to more easily reach the potential revenues offered by remote DSL subscribers," comments Russ Adams
The system solution supports up to 192 ports of ADSL See DSL. ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line , and 96 ports of VDSL See DSL. VDSL - Very high bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line , and can support both remote or local powering. The solution can also be equipped with air induction or a heat exchanger for thermal management. Copper delivery of higher speed services demands shorter loops and technologies such as fiber and VDSL, but shortening the loop involves locating the access equipment closer to the end customer. This involves many challenges in addressing the physical footprint, adapting the existing service provider network, as well environmental considerations. The Nokia Remote DSL System solution is built to enable broadband operators to deal with these challenges in the most cost-efficient manner possible. Nokia is the world leader in mobile communications. Backed by its experience, innovation, user-friendliness and secure solutions, the company has become the leading supplier of mobile phones and a leading supplier of mobile, fixed broadband and IP networks. By adding mobility to the Internet Nokia creates new opportunities for companies and further enriches the daily lives of people.
