Developers of these systems say they are at least as accurate as humans, not to mention faster and cheaper. The systems eliminate any human bias, too, they argue. But critics say computer grading puts more emphasis on style and form than substance, and that grading writing is one area where human subjectivity is valuable. State officials haven't decided yet to switch to computerized computerized
