Byline: Elaine C. Smith Elaine C. Smith (born August 2, 1958) is a Scottish actress and comedian. She was born in Baillieston in Glasgow, and she continues to live in the city.

Elaine attended Braidhurst High School in Motherwell.

It was my youngest's 12th birthday on Friday and she wanted to go on the climbing wall A climbing wall is an artificially constructed wall with grips for hands and feet, used for climbing. Some are brick or wooden constructions, but on most modern walls, the material used is a thick multiplex board with holes drilled into it.  and aerial assault course at the new Xscape centre at Braehead, near Glasgow.

So 10 days before her birthday I rang to book her and her friends - to be told it was sold out.

They could only offer a limited service as they couldn't get instructors.

Scotland doesn't have enough qualified staff available to meet the demands of the public.

My daughter settled for ice skating and bowling and had a ball. But lack of skilled staff is a matter we must address.
