No joke: 2001-02 a banner year for positive publicity. (CalCPA News). It may seem ironic, but 2001-02 turned out to be a banner year for positive visibility for the profession in California. This year's emphasis on electronic media paid off as CalCPA nearly doubled television and radio appearances with segments on topics ranging from chasing terrorist paper trails to personal finance and taxes. CalCPA's statewide relationship with reporters has had a positive effect in the wake of Enron. "If you look at our clips and reports on TV and radio coverage, you'll find that overall the coverage was very positive, even during the height of the Enron issue," says Pamela Thompson, Communications Advisory Committee chair. CalCPA will conduct media training again this year in the fall, to add to the growing number of members who contribute so enthusiastically to CalCPA's media projects.
