This is an interesting project (one of four conceived of by the folks at Funnotfame) to encourage the skateboarding skateboarding

Form of recreation, popular among youths, in which a person rides standing balanced on a small board mounted on wheels. The skateboard first appeared in the early 1960s on paved areas along California beaches as a makeshift diversion for surfers when the ocean
 community to speak out about particular topics. In the interest of full disclosure, I wrote a chapter for this volume, but I do think the project turned out particularly well and it makes for some engaging reading. The chapters are all relatively short, no more than about six pages and as short as a couple paragraphs, so it is easy to consume this one in small bites rather than trying to get through the whole thing in one sitting (it makes for great road trip reading). The essays range from personal stories of skate skate, fish: see ray.
