Edgar John Bergen (February 16 1903 – September 30 1978) was an American actor and radio performer, best known as a ventriloquist.
 put in their mouths.

A lot of would-be Edgar Bergens are still around. They want you to be their dummy Sham; make-believe; pretended; imitation. Person who serves in place of another, or who serves until the proper person is named or available to take his place (e.g., dummy corporate directors; dummy owners of real estate).  and send in their thoughts as though it's a letter to the editor from you.
