A rotary hearth furnace is a facility to process steel mill waste and promote the recycling of iron and zinc as well as zero emission at mills. The new facility, which is scheduled to go into operation around March 2007, will have an annual processing capability of 10,000 tons. Iron reduced from the new RHF will be recycled in an electric furnace while zinc oxide zinc oxide, chemical compound, ZnO, that is nearly insoluble in water but soluble in acids or alkalies.
