Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 are the top-notch gaming consoles commanding the market. However, knowing the difference of Nintendo Wii Vs Playstation 3 gives clarity about each gaming console and its features.

Hardware - Nintendo Wii has a 729 MHz broadway processor with system memory of 88 MB memory, while the internal flash memory is 512 MB. This system outputs video in 480p definition, but the gamers need to purchase SD cards for surplus storage. The hardware is less powerful and hence is less priced, but the motion controller has made the system eminent from its competitors. PlayStation 3 has a multi-core cell processor as the main CPU. The internal memory is 512 MB and this is divided between the graphics engine and the system equally. The new version of PS3 is slim and has an internal hard drive of 120 GB. This system can output video in high definition.

Features - Nintendo Wii is prominent for it motion controller feature as this feature allows the gamers to have a perfect control over the game and its movements than pressing buttons. PS3 has controllers with simple tilt sensors, and the control range is not identical to the Wii remote. The huge library of games and its remote has increased the demand of this game console. Playstation 3 has built-in Bluetooth and offers the ability to play Blu-Rays and DVDs. PS3 has more horsepower and graphics than Wii to make it more attractive. Nintendo Wii allows playing GameCube games, while PS3 slim cannot play Playstation 2 and can allow its gamers to play only games for PlayStation 3 model. However, both the systems are featured with WiFi support.

Games - Rock Band, Madden NFL and Lego Star Wars are released in both gaming systems, but the Wii versions have simple graphics and very few features owing to the less powerful CPU. PS3 has exclusive games such as Metal Gear Solid IV, Killzone 2, Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet, and the Wii games that are exclusive include Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, No More Heroes and Metroid Prime 3. However, Wii games are casual and family friendly, while Playstation 3 games aim for hardcore gaming audience.

Online - Nintendo Wii has online service that facilitates the gamers to access the virtual console and also facilitates them in purchasing as well as downloading the classic console games that includes Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros. Wii gamers can enjoy their games to the core by exchanging their friend codes that have 12 digit numbers, but each console has a unique number. Playstation 3 allows the gamers to access a free online service, the Playstation network, so that the players can play online as well as purchase movies or games and as well download them to their hard drives.

Price - Nintendo Wii is considered to be a value console as it is available at $259.99 and this price tag is significantly lesser than Playstation 3 that costs $599.99. However, recently, PS3 slim is available at $299.99 and the gap between the two gaming consoles has narrowed.
