Nintendo Sets New Entertainment Sales Mark; Diddy Kong Racing To Become Fifth Million Seller of the Year.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1997--Setting a popularity standard unequaled by any movie studio, television network or record label, Nintendo of America today announced it will end 1997 wi. history, recording 800,000 units sold in just its first 14 days of availability. Ten separate polls done by independent organizations this year list Nintendo 64 as a 'gotta have' gift. The surveys have been done by groups ranging from American Express and Duracell, to the National Institute of the Media & Family, and Kaybee Toy Stores.
