Nihon Kohden Launches Two New Compact Analyzers in Celltac Series.

Tokyo, Japan, Jan 31, 2006 - (JCN) - Nihon Kohden announced on January 30 that it has launched two products, the Celltac alpha (MEK-6400) automated hematology analyzer and the Celltac Chemi (CRP-3100) immunological analyzer.

The Celltac alpha, which is 30% smaller in size than its predecessor, can automatically analyze blood cells using 18 hematological parameters. The Celltac Chemi, which is based on the latex agglutination turbidmetric immunoassay, can rapidly measure C-reactive proteins (CRPs) in the blood.

By using the two products together, it is possible to measure hematocrit, the number of leukocyte and the amount of CRP, which helps diagnose inflammation and infection.

The prices are set at 3,850,000 yen ($32,900) for Celltac alpha and 1,400,000 yen ($11,970) for Celltac Chemi. The company aims to sell more than 8,000 Celltac alpha analyzers and 1,000 Celltac Chemi analyzers in Japan over the next three years.
