Night falls on Manhattan with swanky new hotel.


Developer Vikram Chatwal Vikram Chatwal (born 1 November 1971) is an American hotelier of Indian Sikh heritage. April 1999, at the age of 28, he created "Vikram Chatwal Hotels" which is an independent hotel group of 9 luxury hotels in 5 cities, with the flagship Dream Hotel.  has unveiled his new Night Hotel, located at 132 W. 45th St.

Designed and conceptualized by Chatwal and Mark Zeff, of Zeffdesign, the Night was visualized as "Gothic Gotham"--a synthesis of old-world style and 21st century enhancements.

Night's interiors featured a starkly sophisticated black and white aesthetic. Its lobby floor uses custom-created black tiles that reveal dimensionality, while the lounge is located center-stage where patrons can talk over elegant cocktails.

The designer's close attention to architecture and interior space can also be seen in custom furnishings that complement their surroundings, such as a fanciful table containing a mini bar, a European traveling chest and a multi-purpose work space ideal for a computer or make-up vanity.

Chatwal and Zeff also commissioned Steelcase to design a one-of-a-kind piece that effortlessly convets from an office chair to a chaise and featured black Coach leather.

At the same time, Night features such modern amenities as WiFi, flat screen TVs, satellite radio, DVD players and custom-designed black and white iPods that may be purchased at the front desk.

Each of the Night's 72 rooms can be reached via elevator or by ascending a marble staircase that winds throughout the building's eight floors. The accommodations include seven standard rooms, 37 king rooms, 18 queen rooms and eight double-doubles. Rates ranged from $275 a night for a regular room to $2,500 for a penthouse suite.
