CLEVELAND, Ohio and FREDERICKSBURG, Va.--(BW HealthWire)--Jan. 31, 2001

NextMED Systems, Inc., a leading business technology partner and Application Integrator for physician practices, announced that they have been chosen by Fredericksburg, Virginia based MediCorp Health System to provide physician practices with technology and business office services.

MediCorp Health System is an integrated health system served by nearly 300 physicians. The system provides facilities and programs offering a wide range of health care and wellness services for the greater Fredericksburg, Virginia area.

Physicians, employed by MediCorp Physician Services, have been using NextMED's services since the beginning of January 2001. NextMED provides the connectivity, practice management software, security, Physician Desktop Manager(TM) portal products, enhanced revenue capture through the Virtual Practice Advisor(TM), and business office services to support primary care, specialists, and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) practices.

According to Bill Haire, Executive Director, Physician Services for MediCorp Health System, "We reviewed the capabilities of six vendors and we were impressed with NextMED's technology offering. They had strong references from current physician clients, and their technology will improve the access and reliability of our patient information. This is a real opportunity to improve connectivity and information availability, thus enhancing the delivery of care to our patients."

Through NextMED, MediCorp can offer value-added services like practice management information systems and business office solutions to local physicians. With the recent adoption of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, physicians will also benefit from using NextMED's secure, HIPAA-compliant network.

"We are creating a secure environment where physicians, outpatient clinics, and surgery centers can connect to business office and hospital services to improve revenue capture and operational workflow. Our goal is to help MediCorp Health System offer value-added services to physicians in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area," stated Philip Lara, NextMED's President.

The need for solutions for physicians' financial and operational issues is driving physician practices and health systems across the nation to seek cost-effective, revenue enhancing alternatives. NextMED's security-driven information systems, business services, and integrated portal products are specifically designed to improve the financial performance of physician practices.
