 Communications investment firm, told NL/NL, with the prediction that the fourth quarter of this year will probably "be the strongest for merger and acquisition activity."

Rosen pointed to the recent sales of Georgetown Publishing and Mealey Publications and the anticipated sale this month of Phillips Business Information, along with the expected sale of some other publishing firms.

Rosen reported that "the total value of newsletter-directory acquisition activity more than doubled in the third quarter of this year versus the second quarter, while the number of deals edged down slightly."

Whitestone Communications, which tracks the pace of deals for annual publication, Who's Buying Whom, reported that for the "first nine months of 2000, the number of newsletter deals is at 41 versus 37 in the same period of 1999 and the dollar value of the transactions is at $178 million, up from $127 million last year.
