Liberty is a city in Clay County, Missouri and is a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. At the 2000 census the city population was 26,232. It is the county seat of Clay CountyGR6.

International Baptist Studies Conference. The second gathering of the International Baptist Studies Conference will he held July, 2000 on the campus of Wake Forest University.

 Historical Society invites essays in Baptist history to be submitted for its annual Torbet Prize in Baptist History. The winner will be awarded $200, plus publication of the winning essay in American Baptist Quarterly. The essays can be in any area of Baptist history and should be by persons who have not previously published a work of major scholarly significance. Entries should be no more than twenty-five pages in length (excluding notes), typed double-spaced in accordance with The Chicago Manual of Style. Deadline for submission is October 1, 1999. Norman Marring dies. Norman Marring, respected American Baptist historian, died November 6, 1998, in Rock Hill, South Carolina Rock Hill is the largest city in York County, South Carolina, and a satellite city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The population was 49,765 at the 2000 census. According to 2006 estimates, the city has a population of 61,620 , making it the fourth largest city in South Carolina. . He was 83 at the time of his death. Among his many books, he co-authored with Winthrop Hudson, A Baptist Manual of Polity and Practice (1963; rev. ed., 1991).
