Newmark & Company Real Estate, Inc. hosted a security and disaster recovery seminar entitled, "Planning for the Unimaginable: Challenges Facing Corporations Today." The event, held in the Terrace Room of the Roosevelt Hotel on March 7, drew a capacity crowd of corporate professionals to listen and take part in the expert panel discussion.

The breakfast seminar and discussion focused on the issues facing national/international corporations when preparing recovery and continuity plans for natural and unnatural disasters as well as the assessment and upgrading of security systems. Specifically; Newmark's expert panel discussed topics such as managing and securing data and data facilities; back-up scenarios; contingency plans for electricity/power; interior building security models; exterior and structural building security considerations; and enhancing intra-company security through up-to-the-minute applicant screening and monitoring technology.

The panel, moderated by Neil J. Goldmacher, principal of Newmark, consisted of executives of diverse backgrounds representing both corporate users of security planning and service providers in the security and disaster recovery fields. The distinguished group included Jeffrey Schlanger, CEO of Kroll Inc., Thomas Moogan, director of General Services for Salomon Smith Barney, Dave Plumb, senior vice president of sales for SunGard Availability Service, Robert Derector, president of Robert Derector Associates, Robert Healey, managing director of global infrastructure for Deutsche Bank, J.P. Rosato, CEO of CS Technology and Stephen Wood, vice president of engineering services for Con Edison.
