New vans are on the way to help sick and disabled veterans.

One hundred and sixty-four new Ford vans, made possible through a continuing partnership between DAV Departments and Chapters and the Colorado Trust, are on the way to join the Transportation Network nationwide. The new vans will provide transportation for sick and disabled veterans to and from VA facilities for needed medical care.

The new vans include 90 Econoline 8-passenger vans, 60 Econoline 12-passenger vans, and 14 all-wheel Freestyle vans. They represent a combined investment of more than $3.2 million dollars in Transportation Network purchases for 2007.

Over the course of several months, volunteer drivers from throughout the nation picked up the vans at National Headquarters and drove them back to their areas to begin serving our nation's sick and disabled veterans. Some of the volunteer drivers had previously been to National Headquarters; for others it was a first visit. All had an opportunity to tour National Headquarters, meet members of the staff, obtain free posters and information and make purchases at the Purchasing Department before leaving.

The following photos are a sampling of the many outstanding volunteer drivers who picked up new vans this year--volunteers who are building better lives for America's disabled veterans and their families.
